Highlands coach Owen da Gama on Tuesday revealed the Lions of the North have recruited 25-year-old defender Seema – much to the surprise of TUT football manager Machesa Kgomo. Tshwane University of Technology has threatened to take Highlands Park to FIFA if they find out that the club has signed Elliot Seema without their permission.
“In the first place we are not even aware that our captain is training with Highlands Park,” Kgomo says. “It’s a big shock even to hear that he has signed.
“As a professional team I believe Highlands Park know the procedure to follow when interested in a player belonging to another team. “It’s always our greatest wish to see our players progressing in their football careers but proper channels and procedures must be followed.
“We won’t stand in the way of the player’s move to Highlands Park but we deserve respect. “I don’t think Highlands Park will take it kindly if they hear that Peter Shalulile is training with Orlando Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs without their permission.
“We are following this issue with interest. For now, we take it as a rumour as we only read it in the media. If it’s true we will take the matter to the highest body in football.”
Seema, who recently skippered TUT to Varsity Football honours, confirmed he is training with Highlands, but declined to comment on whether he has signed with the Absa Premiership outfit.
