Champions League: UEFA announces re-draw after 3 technical mistakes. The Champions League last-16 draw will take place again at 14:00 GMT after a “technical problem” caused an error in the initial one.

Manchester United were initially drawn to face Villarreal but this was not possible because they had faced each other in the group stage.

Instead the La Liga side were paired with Manchester City, while United drew Paris St-Germain. In a statement, Uefa said the draw had been “declared void”.

UEFA accidentally draw Man Utd against Villarreal and didn’t include them in the pot of possible teams against Atlético Madrid. That was the F1 finale of Champions League draws. #UCL

Sky Sports News has asked UEFA to clarify what happened with the Atletico Madrid draw and why #MUFC were not put into the pot as an option for them to be drawn.

Official. Champions League draw will be repeated today. #UCL. “Following a technical problem, the draw has been declared void and will be entirely redone at 1500 CET”, UEFA announces.

Real Madrid have asked UEFA, that if there IS a re-draw, to start it after Real Madrid – Benfica because that was a legal draw.

3 errors in the initial Champions’ League draw:

#1: Manchester United & Villarreal drawn in the same pot when they were in the same group

#2: Liverpool included in the draw for Atletico Madrid, were in same group

#3: Manchester United not included in Atletico Madrid’s draw

The errors by @UEFA in the #UCL draw:

• Man. United drawn vs Villarreal at first (same group).
• Man. United not in Atletico’s pot.
• Real Madrid were in Villarreal’s pot (same nation).
• Liverpool included in Atletico’s pot (same group).

Manchester United have not challenged the #UCLDraw after their ball was drawn against Villarreal and then not in the pot to face Atletico Madrid. UEFA are yet to confirm what happened or whether they are satisfied with how the draw was handled.
