Champions League: No more Messi vs Ronaldo show after re-draw.
Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are all seeded along with German giants Bayern Munich and record 13-time winners Real Madrid.
The other seeds are Ajax, Juventus and Lille. The eight unseeded teams, who all finished runners-up in their respective groups, are Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Paris St-Germain, Sporting Lisbon, Chelsea, Red Bull Salzburg, Villarreal and Benfica.
Manchester United will face Atletico Madrid in European competition for the first time since November 1991, when they were eliminated by the Spaniards in the second round of the European Cup Winners’ Cup.
If memory serves Atletico scored two late goals to win the first leg 3-0 in Spain. Manchester City play Sporting Lisbon for the first time since the 2011-12 Europa League last 16, with the Portuguese side winning on away goals back then.
Chelsea have won each of their last four meetings with French sides in all European competitions (including twice vs Lille), having won just five of their first 16 such games.
